What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?

I wanted to give these two a modern, beachy feel – like they had just stepped into a PacSun ad.

Where did this photo shoot take place?

The Monarch Butterfly Gardens in Pismo Beach, CA.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?

Canon 5D Mkii, 50mm 1.2 lens

What time of day were these taken?

Sunset!

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?

These were edited using VSCO for Lightroom; I have modified the Fuji presets to have more saturation and contrast.

What is your favorite thing about this session?

I love the joy in these portraits; I can’t look at them without smiling!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?

I want this session to show that I can maintain an editorial style while also capturing real, honest moments with seniors.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?

Keep things relaxed – even a technically stunning photo isn’t a winner without a true smile!
