What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Ashley told me she wanted something soft and girlie in a natural setting.
Where did this photo shoot take place?
I just love the location of this photoshoot. I took Ashley to a tucked away location in Fallbrook, Ca. We had just had some rain so it was beautiful and green everyone. I was super excited to see the lily pads all over the place.
Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes I always send my seniors a lot of clothing ideas. Ashley didn’t really need any help. She is into fashion and her style shines through. I also send my seniors a little client lounge with questions and answers so we can get to know each other better, plus we communicate via email or text.
What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I shoot with my Nikon D700, my 85mm and my 70-200mm lens and a reflector.
What time of day were these taken?
Between 4:30 and 6:00pm
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I try to keep my processing clean and timeless. A little contrast and vibrance. I use mostly LR and some skin smoothing in PS.
What is your favorite thing about this session?
Ashley’s style and quick smile have to be my favorite thing about this session. I love that I was able to capture exactly what she was looking for. We had a blast.
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
That you don’t have to be a super model to look like one in your senior portraits. Its more about having fun and bringing out the natural beauty in your senior. This year goes by so fast being able to capture a little bit of the magic of senior year is so rewarding.
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun, relax and don’t take yourself to serious. The senior picks up on that and will soon be having just as much fun and you will be able to get natural images they will love for a lifetime.
