What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Preppy, classic, timeless. Jordan attends private school and we wanted the shoot to have that sophisticated preppy feel.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Jordan requested that we go to the National Harbor in Maryland for his session. He specifically asked for photos to be taken by the Awakening sculpture along the beach area. We made use of the yachts in the background for a nautical feel and I was sure to capture him in front of Capital Wheel. Afterwards, we shot in and around the Gaylord National Harbor hotel.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
No, Jordan came up with his wardrobe completely on his own and that makes me a very lucky photographer. I loved his bold pants, preppy socks, and sophisticated blazer.

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
White balance is a must. I also adjusted the tone curve in some images. Bumped up the exposure a bit.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
This session was FUN! Jordan’s parents tagged along but were not intrusive at all! As we moved from one setting to the next I really enjoyed getting to know them all. We laughed, joked around, shared some life stories and enjoyed each other’s company.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I can’t believe how lucky and blessed I am to have photographed so many St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes seniors. I feel so welcomed by each one of them. They are all amazing young adults who have a positive outlook on their future and are motivated to do great things. Jordan is no exception. He is the quintessential gentleman- polite, kind, and considerate and I love how he showed off his keen sense of style.

My photography style is completely classic, preppy, and timeless. When my clients look at their photos years from now, they will still be in style. My sessions are relaxed, yet professional, and my goal is to make my subjects feel like a ROCK STAR in front of the camera. I’ll make them smile and laugh and will them to focus on being in the moment. Connecting with my clients and providing them with the ultimate experience is my number one priority.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Although we might have our own vision for the session, we can’t be selfish. We need to let each senior shine in their own individual way. Jordan happened to be right in line with my brand and style but not every senior is and that is OK! As photographers we need to celebrate these young adults for who they are and let them enjoy their moment however they wish. Maintain a laid back approach to the session so your senior can feel at ease. They should walk away from the session having FUN and wanting to do it all over again.
