Did you know next summer is the 50th anniversary of The Summer of Rock n Roll?  With that in mind, photographer Sara Brennan of Whitebox Photo in North Carolina thought it would be the perfect concept for her Class of 2017 models!

“I thought a ‘summer of rock n’ roll’ theme would be perfect for my senior models for the class of 2017,” said Sara.  “The hippie/bohemian look is very much in style right now so I got a lot of inspiration from magazines, Pinterest and other fashion media outlets.”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?

Aside from the fact that next summer is the 50th anniversary of ‘summer of love,’ the hippie/bohemian look is very much in style right now so I got a lot of my inspiration from magazines, pinterest, and other fashion media outlets.

Where did this photo shoot take place?

The session took place at my whitebox studio and farm! We had so much fun decorating the studio and farm area to create a truly authentic look!

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?

I received images and clothing sizes of each senior model prior to the session to be able to plan hair, makeup, and clothing accordingly.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?

I am a Canon girl! I photographed the shoot with my Canon 5d mark iii, 70-200mm, 50mm, and 35 mm.

What time of day were these taken?

From 3:30 – 7 p.m.

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?

I use only photoshop for my editing along with some ‘Totally Rad!’ actions.

What is your favorite thing about this session?

I enjoyed how much fun the senior models had with this session because some of them were friends already and some new friends were made from this session!  I also loved the awesome vw bus, how could you not?!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?

I love to have fun with my senior sessions! This session totally shows off my abilities to get my clients to relax, kick back, and simply be themselves as I photograph their beautiful faces!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?

Be confident about your talents as a photographer and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
