Lots of photographers concentrate on photographing only senior girls. After all, senior girls tend to love getting their photo taken. But the senior guy business is just as important and can be a very profitable side to your business.
Today’s inspiration session comes from Aimee Campbell of Aimee Campbell Photography and she said that this senior is one of her Senior Models for the 2013-2014 school year. Aimee said that this is the first time she has had a male senior model. I think this session will definitely help Aimee get into the market of senior guys!
Check out this fun session with a senior guy below and be sure to read what else Aimee had to share about this session! You can view more of Aimee’s work here. Thanks for sharing Aimee!!
What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Since I was using a male model, I wanted to play a lot with difference angles and perspectives that you can’t usually do with females.
Where did this photo shoot take place?
Logan, UT and Wellsville, UT
Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
We collaborated on locations. As for clothing, he works for a clothing retailer and we were both confident he would chose the right look for the shoot.
What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I used a Nikon D800 and a Sigma 24-70mm lens.
What time of day were these taken?
After 7:00pm
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I am a very traditional photographer. I don’t like using a lot of actions and presets. I used Lightroom almost exclusively on these images.
What is your favorite thing about this session?
I loved everything about this session! I was a little nervous about using a male model but he used some very convincing arguments about why I should. Turns out he is on the debate team! I loved that he was completely comfortable in front of the camera.
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I wanted to convey for him his sense of style. For me I wanted to convey my classic style that I like to punctuate with a bit of drama at the end of the shoot using off camera flash.
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Remember that these are photos that need to hold up for years to come. Trendy props and color actions may not hold up over the years.

Wonderful Utah senior portrait work!! I wish more guys would understand how fun it is to have a professional take you out of the traditional studio setting for senior photos. These are such a great example and I can’t wait for more guys to see what an awesome opportunity this is – great job, Aimee!!!
