Being creative and collaborating is a great way to grow as a photographer.  Amelia of Amelia J Moore collaborated with her assistant to create a photo shoot for her senior reps and showcase her assistant’s amazing talent as a clothing designer.

“My creative assistant is an aspiring clothing designer, so she took on the task to create nine pieces for our girls!” said Amelia.  “We started with a modern-whimsical-bohemian-theme inspiration.”

Check out this beautiful session below and read what Amelia had to say about it!  Thanks for sharing your work with Seniorologie.

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
I love creative collaboration and have a great group of creative friends whom I have the privilege of working with often! We wanted to create a unique experience for our Senior while at the same time taking our creativity one step further… creating a clothing line for the gals!

My creative assistant is an aspiring clothing designer, so she took on the task to create nine pieces for our girls! We started with a modern-whimsical-bohemian-theme inspiration.

In addition to these exclusive pieces, we wanted to feature a more classy look with a variety of dress styles for a second look.

Then we worked with our hair & make-up team to push the creativity on some popular hair styles to showcase a variety of looks for the purpose of Senior Portraits. Normally girls want to wear their hair long and curly (which look amazing), but we wanted to feature some other styles as well.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Downtown Nashville, TN

I enjoyed finding different location to incorporate that complimented our look. Our final location was at the base of the State Capital Building.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
We collaborated with the girls in the group by visiting them and their closets. We asked them their main style, favorite pieces, colors and activities. We incorporated these personal elements into the creation of their unique attire.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5D Mark III
Lens: Canon 35mm/ 1.4,  24-70 & 70-200

What time of day were these taken?
4:00-7:30 pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
various photoshop actions

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I loved the creative collaboration! I loved being able to fully style the session. And I LOVED the energy of the whole group. The girls really enjoyed getting ready together and meeting each other.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
The overall experience is a lot of fun! My style reflects your personally but it creative, simple and stunning!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
This is my first time organizing a Senior Rep Program. Do it!! I’ve been putting it off for a few years because I couldn’t understand how to work it. It took about 6 weeks to recruit the group and organize the session in early June. Next year, I’ll organize this earlier. I loved the experience and getting to know the students at a deeper level. They are very excited and have done a great job at getting the word out about my studio just because of their experience at the session.
