What better way to show off a senior that shines inside and out than to use glitter!!  Jordan of Jordan Brittley Photography says that this senior is joyful and the sparkle in her eye captures you!

I love that they collaborated on the wardrobe and used such a vibrant color, yellow, and the gold glitter!  The combination is beautiful!

Be sure to check out this beautiful session and check out Jordan’s other work here.  Thanks for sharing Jordan!!

What was your inspiration for the photo shoot?  She shines. From the inside out, she shines. She is elegant and free and she has such a huge heart. I wanted to capture all of that in Jaelyn. Because even though you might never get to meet this girl… I want you to be blessed by her joy. And she is so joyful. Her eyes seem to sparkle and there is a warmth in the room that just captures you. Because He is at work in her. And His love shines.

Where did this photo shoot take place?  Creve Coeur Lake, St Louis Missouri

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?  We did! Jaelyn and I actually went shopping together for her shoot. She really wanted to work with a bright color and I couldn’t have been more pleased since the yellow dress helped to bounce the light around. I wanted to incorporate the hat so she would have something to hold as we worked in the open area near the lake.

What camera, lens and equipment were used for this shoot?  Canon 5D mark ii, Canon 50mm f/1.2

What time of day were these taken?  In the evening, one hour before sunset.

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?  I love to do most of my work in-camera and I feel that the mark ii combined with the 50mm really allows me to streamline my workflow. However, I did bump the blacks in Lightroom and I used the “Oh Snap!” at 10% + “Pro Retouch” at 30% from Totally Rad to add a little something extra to the photo.

What is your favorite thing about this session?  I think my favorite thing was making Jaelyn feel beautiful. Her personality really shines through in the photos and she really allowed herself to enjoy being photographed. I love it when a girl looks back on her photos and knows that she is beautiful.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?  I want girls to know that they are gorgeous. And this isn’t going to change when they go home and take off their makeup. They were made beautifullyand I want each girl to really understand what that means and embrace the truth.

What do you think the Glitter represents in this session?  I think the glitter represents so many different things. Boldness. Confidence. Beauty. Love. Joy. Compassion. And freedom. It represents living in freedom from our insecurities so we can be who we are called to be.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?  Look deeper. In yourself. Because you can only push a senior as far as you are willing to go. You can’t really capture feelings or emotions as they unravel before your eyes unless you know what those feelings or emotions are in your own life. And when you begin to push yourself you are going to find that your seniors will rise up and push themselves… into greatness.
