Andrea Hallet of Andrea Hallett Photography loves natural light.  The way it illuminates her subjects and creates the perfect light, airy and feminine photos.  Andrea does an excellent job using the light to her advantage and this type of lighting results in some pretty awesome images!
Andrea has been in the photography business for three years.  Before that, she was a lawyer but she earned to do something more creative.  After having her daughter, she quit her job to be a stay-at-home mom.  She quickly found her creative side and started pursuing photography.  She read all the books she could on the subject and had the support of her photographer friends who gave her honest feedback and helped her grow.  Andrea feels lucky to have such a great job where she can express her creativity through light and beautiful images!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
She is such a gorgeous girl I wanted her images to focus on her natural beauty, so we tried to stay away from too many props and kept the clothing simple and timeless.
Where did this photo shoot take place?
We shot part of the session at a local apple and peach orchard. The rest of the session was shot in a wildflower field filled with these amazing tiny little daisy flowers.
What time of day was this shot?
I always schedule my senior sessions in the late afternoon for the best light.
Did you collaborate with the senior to come up with the clothing worn in this photo session?
Most of my senior clients bring a variety of clothing and we pick out outfits together.  I have a small collection of hair flowers, headbands and scarves that we sometimes use as well.
What camera, lens and equipment were used?
I use a Canon 5d MkII and either my 24-70 2.8L or my 50mm 1.2 L
Can you share any post processing tips used when editing this session?
I love a dreamy, pretty image, with nice skin tones and beautiful catchlights in the eyes.  I do about 90% of my post processing in Lightroom using my own presets.
What is your favorite thing about these photos?
Well, she is just incredibly beautiful so that made my job very easy and I love how the wildflower field adds a feminine element to the images.
What do you feel this senior session conveys about this senior and about your senior photography business?
I feel like my clients come to me for a certain look, light, airy and feminine images- which is a look I love to create!
What is one tip you could share with other senior photographers?
A comfortable and relaxed client always results in better images, but how to achive this? I always ask my Seniors which outfit they brought is their favorite, and then we save that one for the end because I know. by then, they will have loosened up a bit and relaxed into the session.  The first 20 minutes of a session does not usually result in images that make the finally gallery because, like most people (myself included!) they feel a bit nervous and self conscious having a camera in their face.  It helps to joke around, talk . .. .I love to know about their lives, friends, school activites, boyfriends . . .It also helps that I have the television viewing habits of a high school girl so we talk about America’s Next Top Model, Real Housewives, Teen Mom . . . 🙂  Two hours always flies by and at the end my clients often say how much fun they had and, to me, there’s no better compliment.
