When I first began my journey into photography, I searched for blogs that would teach me the things I needed to know.  I wanted information.  As much as I could get.  I remember spending a week at my in-laws house, glued to their laptop, searching every photography blog out there.  I came across a blog that immediately caught my eye.  It was informative and inspirational.  There were interviews of photographers, beautiful studios to long for and information about the industry I was so desperately trying to learn and be a part of.  It was love at first sight.

That blog was The Savvy Photographer.  I was hooked and began logging on to the blog daily to get my “Savvy” fix.  After reading it for a while, I decided to contact the creator and introduce myself.  I wasn’t sure what would happen, but I figured the worst that could happen would be that she wouldn’t respond.  So I wrote her an email.  I told her how much I loved her blog and I let her know that if she ever needed any help with anything, I would love to!  I explained to her that I had a background in journalism and interviewing was something I loved to do.  To my surprise and excitement, she emailed me back.  What was a hope and dream, was now a reality!  I was writing and interviewing photographers for a blog that is completely responsible for my growth in photography!  Marsha gave me a chance and because of that I am forever grateful!

Ever since then, I have offered my services whenever she needed me.  I have been blessed with the opportunities to interview some of my favorite photographers and I have learned  so much in the process.  And when it came time to start my own blog, Marsha gave me advice and offered her support.  It has been a wonderful support system, friendship and much more!

Today, it has all come full circle.  What was once a blog that I stalked religiously, is now a blog that I have the pleasure of having the opportunity to speak at its workshop!  I am beyond thrilled and excited and honored to be a part of The Savvy Sisterhood Workshop on the Waterfront!  This workshop will not only be a wonderful opportunity to learn about photography but also a beautiful vacation to share with some of the industry’s greatest women!

This workshop will be a 4 day, 3 night retreat in the breathtaking town of Alys Beach, Florida on October 1-4, 2012.  Registration is open and seats are selling quickly!  To find out more about the accommodations, click here.

This workshop is more than just a workshop.  It is a vacation to treat yourself for the hard work you have put into your business.  But not only that, it is a learning vacation complete with speakers and lots of chances to build friendships, be inspired and learn a great deal.

Marsha Mifsud, the creator of the Savvy Photographer blog, and the host of The Savvy Sisterhood Workshop will bring together a group of women who arrive as attendees and depart as sisters…Savvy Sisters.

The first Savvy Sisterhood Workshop sold out quickly and the attendees were treated to the fabulous amenities at the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, Maryland (the Inn was the amazing backdrop for the wedding in The Wedding Crashers)  The entire Inn was bought out for The Savvy Workshop and the attendees went home with a better business sense and a great new group of friends.

This year Marsha wanted to create something different for the 2012 Retreat and while scouting the best beaches, she discovered Alys Beach and knew she had found the perfect location.  Alys Beach is the crown jewel of Florida’s Emereld Coast.  It is a beach community founded in New Urbanism and built to exacting standards for the utmost in luxury living.  It is a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  Located along Florida’s Gulf Coast, Alys Beach boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  With a carpet of sugar-fine sand descending into crystal-clear waters, this stretch of Gulf Coast is unmatched in beauty.

The attendees will be treated to million dollar, luxury beach homes that offer gourmet kitchens with commercial-grade appliances, cozy fireplaces and central courtyards with generous dipping pools.  They are decorated by top designers from around the US and they are the epitome of a luxurious escape.

The speaker line up is incredible and I am honored to be among all of these women whom I look up to and admire.

I have been pinching myself on a daily basis about the fact that I am actually in the company of such wonderful women!  I think one day I will wake up and it will be a dream! 🙂  I am so excited to be a part of this workshop and to be able to share information about Senior Photography with the group of attendees that will be joining us in Alys Beach.  This will be a chance to learn not only about senior photographer, but about all genres of photography from some incredibly talented women in the industry.
