The Seniorologie Directory is growing and I really wanted to highlight some of the awesome photographers that are yearly members of the directory.  So I am starting two new features on the blog that showcase the yearly directory members.

Member Share is a feature that will allow our senior readers and fellow photographers to get to know these talented directory members a little better.  I will showcase some of their favorite senior images that they have taken and ask them questions about themselves and about their business.

The second new feature is an Image Contest which we will have twice a year.  There will be two sections of the contest…one for yearly members of the directory and one for fans of Seniorologie.  There will be categories in each of these contests but all will be senior based and the images will be judged by our panel of judges.  The winners in each category will receive professional recognition, a feature on the Seniorologie blog and preferred listing space for the directory portion of the contest and prizes from sponsors.  The first contest will begin soon so if you are interested, go get your images ready!  And if you want to participate in the directory portion of the image contest, apply to the directory today!

How long have you been in business? 5 years

What percentage of your business is seniors?  25%

What do you think makes a perfect senior session?  Someone that is relaxed and having a good time.  Surprisingly enough, this is never a problem.

What do you love most about photographing seniors?  I love getting to know the Seniors that I work with personally.  I love to find out what they are interested in, how they spend their time and what their hope and plans for the future are.  It is such an exciting time of life!

What would you say is the biggest challenge in your business?  Fitting everyone that requests a session in to my current schedule.

Describe your photography style?  Timeless and classic yet still fun and relaxed.  I like to show laughter and true expressions that show what my Seniors are really like at this time in their life and still have a classic portrait that will stand the test of time.  I offer images that will still be beautiful in 30 years.

What motivates or inspires you in your photography?  I love landscapes and architecture but most of all I love beautiful light and color.

1. Where are you from/live?  I am from Alabama but have lived in Smyrna, GA for a long, long time!

2. Married?  Married to Andy for 13 years

3. Kids?  I have 3 kids.  I can’t believe it!

4. What are their ages?  I have two wild little boys that are 8 and 10 and a sweet and crazy little 4 year old girl.

5. Nikon or Canon?  Canon all the way.

6. Favorite Lens?  85mm 1.2

7. What kind of Camera Bag do you carry?  I just got a Kelly Moore “2 Sues” camera bag and love it!  It holds most of my camera equipment plus an iPad but looks like a purse.

8. Favorite music to edit to?  Lately it has been The Band Perry and Miranda Lambert but usually it is Van Halen or Shinedown.  I like a lot of different stuff.

9. Favorite Photoshop Action?  I have a few of my own actions I have created and I mostly just use those and tweak them a lot.  I treat every image differently depending on what, where, who and what my mood is!

10. A Photographer that inspires you?  I love Barb Uil of JinkyArt for her creativity.

11. Favorite food?  I probably shouldn’t say Bagelfuls, Diet Coke or raw chocolate chip cookie dough, should I?  I love most all food (a lot!).  You have got to try a Houston’s Cheeseburger – a wonderful splurge.

12. Favorite place to shop?  I rarely have time to shop except for my online excursions to Gymboree and The Gap mostly for my kids.  I dream of spending all day in Anthropologie.

13. Favorite drink at Starbucks?  Mocha Frappuccino.  I want one right now.

14. Favorite Guilty Pleasure? 🙂  A full body massage from Natural Body.

15. Favorite Memory from when you were a senior?  I laugh how we would pile 3 or 4 of us in a 2 seater and “cruise” around town looking for something fun to do.  Simple silly times with my friends where we laughed so hard we cried are my favorite memories.

17. Favorite Workshop or photography event you have attended?  I have attended several amazing workshops.  The JinkyArt one comes to mind as a real stand out.

19.Favorite Vacation spot?  Montego Bay, Jamaica

20. Favorite Movie?  I have lots of them that I love to watch over and over.  The Hangover makes my laugh out loud and I love old John Hughes movies.
