Working with seniors and their beloved animals is a great way to capture the story of that senior.  Pets mean so much to seniors and by including them in the photos you will definitely create an emotional connection that is beautiful to capture.

“Megan has a beautiful horse, Blaize, and I couldn’t have been more excited when she came to me with this idea,” said Amy Foreaker of Amy Jordan Photography in Santa Rosa, California.  “She wanted her session to be less country and more bohemian.”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
This bohemian themed session was inspired by this gorgeous senior and her handsome horse Blaize.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This session was done on a quaint farm in Sonoma County, Ca.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes! Megan has a beautiful horse, Blaize, and I couldn’t have been more excited when she came to me with this idea. She wanted her session to be less country and more bohemian. Or rather just a normal day with her “main squeeze.” I was honored to be a part of her senior portrait experience.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D610, Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8, 85mm f/1.8, gold reflector

What time of day were these taken?
sunset

What is your favorite thing about this session?
The warm feel I get between a girl and her horse!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
Very natural and real. Nothing too posed or planned about this session. It was planned with only about a week notice and an order of a flower crown from a local vendor. You don’t need too much work or editing to go into a session for it to be true & beautiful!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Just be you with the seniors! I am a young photographer, so I feel like a have an advantage to connecting with them. But ultimately it’s about letting go of being a business and being their new best friend.  I always keep my professionalism with me, but they will never let loose and feel comfortable if you don’t either!
