It may be the beginning of summer but when you have a senior client that loves snow, you plan the session around winter!  In this beautiful session below, photographer April Smith of April Smith Photography in Pennsylvania said that she and her client spent time planning this shoot and then just had to wait on the weather!

“My senior and I talked for a few weeks about what kind of session we wanted to shoot.  Then it was a matter of planning around the weather because we wanted snow!” said April.

Check out this beautiful shoot in the snow below and start planning your sessions for this winter!  Thanks for sharing your work with Seniorologie April!

ari18p9b56468p9b5532_edited-1What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
My senior of course!
I love to take who they are and reflect it in a classic beautiful way. The privilege it is to show a senior girl how beautiful they are is AMAZING!

Where did this photo shoot take place?
I live in Northwest Pennsylvania. We can get snow at random all Spring. So this session was strategically planned for a morning dusting of snow! And the sun was an added bonus 🙂

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I am in constant contact with my seniors before a session. What they want to wear, hair style, location. It all ties together. So I take these elements and plan accordingly.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I shoot with a Cannon MARKIII & my 85mm prime is my go to gear!
And of course my Expodisc!!

What time of day were these taken?
Morning

ari3ari28p9b56468p9b5539Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I run images through Lightroom to cull and select. Then to even out my WB. Then I run images through Photoshop for spot removal and a light filter of Portraiture.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
How different yet a collection of beauty. From snow and a gown. To downtown in boots. It all works together beautifully!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
Beautiful, classic portraits can still reflect trends, style and individuality.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Look for the light!
That big ball of sun is just a light, use it to your advantage!
