Tell me a little about how you became a senior photographer…I started in photography in late 2011 and had my first senior clients in the summer of 2012. That summer, things really took off, and I realized I wanted to specialize in high-end sessions for senior girls. I’ve learned everything in the last couple of years by taking in all of the training that I could (both online and at workshops) and by seeking inspiration from photography sites like Seniorologie! I’d LOVE to participate in a Seniorologie Shoot Out event at some point. 

What do you love most about senior photography?  I love making a mom cry the first time she sees an image from her daughter’s session! That’s when I know I’ve done my job— to create the most beautiful images of her girl and capture an extraordinary moment in time. I want their time spent with me to be an experience that they will never forget!

Tell me a little about this senior and this photo shoot…The girl in this shoot is Monica— a tiny little thing who wasn’t afraid to try new poses and was up for anything! The only issue with this shoot was the WIND! In the winning shot, the wind practically took the hat right off of her head and the laughter that erupted is so natural!

Where did this shoot take place and what time of day?  I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and this was shot around 4PM on a windy, summer afternoon.

What about the winning image stood out to you and made you submit it to Seniorologie?  I LOVE what a joyful person Monica is! Of all of my images, I love the ones that are pure joy and you can just see it in the girl’s face!
