Most of the sessions featured here are natural light but when we get the opportunity to show off a senior session with flash that i ultra cool, we love it!

Chelsea of Chelsea Peterson Photography said that she too mostly shoots natural light.  But when this senior chose a session using flash she loved it!

“I actually love using my flash to create mood and emotion,” said Chelsea.

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
When planning this session the song that kept coming to mind was Boom Clap by Charlie XCX. Its such a great song to set a tone. We were going for a moody, nightlight and slightly grudge look for it.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This session is on the main street in Downtown Provo Utah, in a awesome venue called The Underground, wedding receptions, bands, other event can all be held here. I was lucky enough to be able to shoot in the room called the gentlemen’s club.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5d Mark III, canon 85mm, canon 24-70mm, off camera flash with a softbox.

What time of day were these taken?
6-8pm

I just loved the venue, it is unique and they don’t always let people shoot in the room we got to be in.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
This session was not a typical flowery, fun, or natural type of shoot. Its was all about mood and night. It actually gave me an opportunity to show a part of my photography that I don’t always get to show which was fun. It gives other seniors an opportunity to think outside the box when they pick their location options.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
The session where I have gotten the most time with each senior and gotten to know them are always the best. I feel like if you can take the time to get to know them, everything comes naturally and will flow.
