A senior’s talent such as dance is a great thing to incorporate into their session.  Not only does it help tell the story of that senior, but it is something they are comfortable doing and the results are amazing!

The senior below, photographed by Eliza Morrill of Eliza Morrill Photography, is a ballerina.  Eliza incorporated this beautiful talent and paired it with a gorgeous location to create a fairy-like shoot.  Check it out below and read what Eliza had to share about this beautiful photo shoot!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
My biggest inspiration for this shoot was Lacey’s experience as a talented ballerina and blending it with a gorgeous meadow in our hometown. Together, they created fairy land-like images that we were both so pleased with!

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This session took place in a gorgeous meadow in our hometown, just off of a busy street. You’d never guess from the look of it that traffic was just behind us.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I used my Nikon D610, 50mm 1.4 G, 85mm 1.8 G, and a reflector for this shoot. I stuck with my 50mm for the majority of the shoot, because I love how it allows me to be more up close and personal with my subject, and I can’t get enough of the creamy, buttery bokeh it produces. Swoon! I also made the flower crown myself, using flowers found at the Dollar Store. Can’t beat that.

What time of day were these taken?
Just before sunset

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I boosted the warmth and vibrance just a tad, while also using a clarity brush on the background for added drama.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love how fierce and beautiful Lacey is, and how she was up for anything. It’s not easy for sometimes for seniors to get comfortable in front of your lens, but Lacey was truly a natural.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
My biggest goal was to convey Lacey’s personality and interests without being cheesy. My style is clean, colorful, and comfortable– and I feel like this session was just that. Lacey is beautiful inside and out, and I wanted that to shine through these images.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Get to know your senior! Learn about their interests, plans for next year, and, most importantly– keep up a good conversation throughout the session.
