What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
This girl is so beautiful and has such a great sense of style that I knew we would have a great time and get some amazing shots wherever we went. I love some of the older and unique buildings in our downtown area, and I am always inspired by nature as well, so we made sure to get a few in a tall grassy field as well, which I love.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
We shot this mostly in downtown Fort Wayne, and ended up at a park for a few natural looking shots at the end.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes, I met with her in her home to help plan wardrobe. Knowing what they will wear always helps me to match the outfit with a location where I can envision him or her wearing it. We also discussed locations and ideas for the shoot in advance.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I shoot with a Nikon D7000 and a Sigma Art 50mm 1.4.

What time of day were these taken?
A few hours before sunset until sunset.

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I love Erin Tole Photography’s Lightroom presets and use those almost all the time for my base edit.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Having the honor of shooting a senior session for loved friends is always a blast. We had fun hanging out and shooting images so it wasn’t like work at all!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want each senior session to convey their personality and individuality as much as possible. I would like it to reflect that they feel confident and relaxed and that we had an enjoyable evening together, as well as the beauty of the person and the world around them. That is what I love about photography: capturing the beauty all around and seeing the beauty this most miss in the busyness of life.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun together, keep it light and upbeat. I always allow plenty of time so that we don’t feel rushed and can all relax and just have a great time together.
