Sometimes finding the perfect light and the perfect location means going on a little hike.  Jessica Hunter of Jess Hunter Photography said that she and this senior, who also happens to be her cousin by marriage, had a to walk a little way to get to where the sun was below the horizon but once they made it, it was definitely worth it.

“The light from that part of the session was absolutely AMAZING,” said Jessica.  And I would have to agree!

Somewhat, I knew she had her senior portraits done already so asked her if she would be up for something more creative!

Canon 7d and Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8

Golden hour

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
Hand edited + an oh so posh action at low opacity.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love the lighting in the last portion of the session. Yakima light is really strong, even during golden hour, so when the sun finally dipped below the horizon the light became PERFECTION.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
creative, emotive, boho inspired

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun with them! Let them know that you’re interested in who they are, and they are bound to shine on camera. Also lighting is everything. Good lighting brings out the best in people…which makes them and you happy 🙂
