What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Honestly Nicole’s hair and her desire for a flower crown were the inspirations for the shoot. I wanted to create something that really emphasized those two things

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Leucadia California (which is part of Encinitas)

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes! Nicole told me she really wanted a flower crown and a relaxed feel. I actually created the flower crown myself from flowers out of my own garden. We worked together to make sure it looked right and felt comfortable.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D800
50mm 1.2 lens

What time of day were these taken?
Two hours before sunset

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I use Lightroom 4 to edit. I really work hard to make the photos bright (without over exposing). I want the light and the energy to just pop out of the photo.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love the mood Nicole was able to convey. And the light….the light was just killing me!!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I wanted this session to truly capture Nicole in all her beauty. I want seniors be okay with being themselves around me, and for me to accurately be able to capture who they are in an environment that accentuates that.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Get the senior to relax. Ask them about their favorite things to get them talking and loosened up. Don’t make them be too posed…sometimes they start to feel awkward then.
