Sometimes one small feature can make such a huge impact and in this gorgeous session below this senior’s eyes are that feature.

“When we were planning this winter shoot, I knew that I really wanted to showcase her eyes.  I wanted them to be the centerpiece of her images,” said Julisa of Julisa Haines Photography.

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Her stunning eyes!  When we were planning this winter shoot, I knew that I really wanted to showcase her eyes.  I wanted them to be the centerpiece of her images.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Bethesda Tree Farm, Hays KS

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I collaborated with her mom, Danielle who is also my amazing talented MUAH artist.  We planned this session around the location of the tree farm.  So being a tree farm of course it has alot of evergreen trees such a spruce and pine trees and that is what was the inspiration for the garland halo.   I always tease that Danielle  is the other half of my brain.  We always can see each others vision before we even speak it!  It is the craziest thing!

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon Mark iii, 85 mm. 1.2, 200 mm. 2.0

What time of day were these taken?
two hours before sunset

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
My dirty little secret is I don’t have a specific workflow, I edit to how I feel about the image.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Hands down the colors!  Her eyes, her lips, the evergreens.  She was such a trooper during this session.  I think the high that day was 16 degrees.  It was freezing!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I wanted this to have a romantic look to it and I believe we achieved that with her dress and her hair.  I love color and loved the colors in these images!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Get to know them!  Connect with your senior and listen to what they want.  I never show up to a shoot without understanding what is important to them and to the parents to capture during their session.
