Showing off your specific style and letting potential clients know exactly what to expect if they book with you is a great way to target your market and book your ideal clients.  And putting together photo shoots that speak to exactly who you are as a senior photographer is the perfect way to market to your potential clients.

“I put together this session for my 2015 marketing campaign to showcase my style and approach to photography seniors,” said Katie Lamb of Katie Lamb Photography in Houston, Texas.  “My entire brand and style of photography is built around bright sunlight and the great Texas outdoors.”

This beautiful session below is the perfect example of Katie’s beautiful photography style.  Check it out below and read what else Katie had to say about this session.  Thanks for sharing your work with Seniorologie Katie!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
My entire brand and style of photography is built around bright sunlight and the great Texas outdoors. I strive for all of my images to have a raw and natural feel to them, and this is where the root of my inspiration for each and every session comes. Specifically, for this session, I wanted the images to showcase the earthy and organic feel that I strive for in every photo I take.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This session took place just outside of Houston at one of my favorite areas to shoot. It’s full of old spanish oak moss trees which was the perfect backdrop for this session.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I always collaborate with my clients on the location and their outfit choices for their session as specific colors, style of clothing, etc. will photograph much better than others with my shooting and editing style. Since this session was one that I put together myself, I styled and provided all outfits and accessories.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
All of these images were shot with my Canon 5d Mark III and 50mm and 85mm lenses.

What time of day were these taken?
Late afternoon

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
In order to keep my style and brand very consistent, each image I edit from every session is approached in the same exact way. I always want my images from today’s session to match the images from three months ago. That being said, I complete all of my editing with Lightroom 5 by applying a custom Preset that I created to give my photographs and soft, airy feel to them.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session is the raw, organic feel to it. Natural hair, natural makeup, in the beautiful natural surroundings we’ve been blessed with on earth. This is the very essence of my photography style, and I love the way this session represents that.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want this session to convey my natural and easy going approach to photography.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
The best tip I can give for photographing seniors is to get to know them both before and during the session. This ensures that they are 100% comfortable in front of the camera and you are able to bring out real emotions to capture in photographs.
