What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Our inspiration was our senior! She wanted to wear her gorgeous sari, but she loves our modern style! We were inspired to combine this traditional Indian attire with our modern photography style for this shoot.

Dallas, TX

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes! It was the senior’s idea to wear the sari outside. We chose the locations to both complement the colorful sari and to also achieve our modern photography aesthetic. We knew we wanted to incorporate architecture as backdrops for this shoot, so we chose areas which had strong architectural elements.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
We love shooting with the 85mm lens!

What time of day were these taken?
1 hour before sunset

What is your favorite thing about this session?
We just love the combination of traditional and modern elements in this shoot! The way the colorful sari pops in front of the white architecture is stunning!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
We really emphasized the senior’s style as well as our own aesthetic during this shoot. Since our shooting style is clean and modern, it was important for us to maintain those aspects throughout the shoot. However, it was very important for us to also emphasize our senior’s style and heritage. We had so much fun combining traditional and modern aspects for this shoot!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
It’s crucial to listen to your seniors and hear what they are wanting from their session! You don’t have to change your style for every senior – in fact, you should not. Instead, it’s important to incorporate your client’s sense of style with your own photographic style. In the end, you can create something really beautiful.
