It’s that time of year when senior photographers all over the country are gearing up for their Senior Model Photo Shoots!  Whether you do one big shoot or individual shoots, creating an awesome experience for your models is key.  We love seeing the different ideas that photographers come up with for their rep shoots and the one below is a beautiful session!!  If you have an awesome rep or model shoot, please share it with us via our submission form on the blog!

Geni Bean of Pink Owl Photography worked with local boutiques to create the models’ looks for this shoot.  Geni wanted a feminine summer time look for this shoot and I definitely think she accomplished that.  Check out the beautiful images below and read what Geni had to share about this shoot!  Thanks for sharing Geni!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
I wanted to have two distantly different looks for our Senior Model shoot. Part one would be feminine and girl mixed with an outdoor ethereal feel followed by a very summer time “Gap” looking style.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
We borrowed a farm that was part of a well know non profit in Louisville called Second Stride. They take through bred race horses and recap the for “every day people” after their racing days are over. We also worked with a local coffee business Heine Brothers to use their super cool Airstream!

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Since this shoot was a stylized shoot for my Senior Models, I brainstormed the ideas then worked with my local boutiques to choose outfits that worked with our theme.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D700
85mm 1.4
35mm 1.4

White Reflector Boards

What time of day were these taken?
Later Afternoon/Evening

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I am a minimalist and try to get everything as perfect in camera as possible. No real tricks to my post processing other than skin softening and sharpening. 🙂

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love the whole day, but especially the friendships that were made this day. Most of the girls came to the shoot not knowing each other, and left with 6+ new friends!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
My style is very bold & vibrant, I try to show case my seniors personal style as much as possible along with their personalities.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
I think  you have to have a little bit of a kid in you when you photograph seniors. Know whats hip & popular, don’t be afraid to be yourself and make fun of yourself, and have fun with your senior!
