Finding beautiful light in a gift many photographers have and in this photo shoot below by Sarah of Sarah Monson Photography, you can see her amazing talent!

“Patience wanted her session to capture the bright summer colors as well as the laid back atmosphere of the beach,” said Sarah.  “She has such a sweet personality but can also pull off the killer serious look!  I love how these photos show both sides of her!”

Check out this session below and read what Sarah had to say about it!  Thanks for sharing your work with Seniorologie Sarah!

sarahmonsonphoto1sarahmonsonphoto2What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Like always, the senior was the inspiration. I want these photos to capture who they are at such an important time in their lives. Like Patience, these photos are fun, colorful, and happy.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This session took place outside of Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, WI

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes! I always give suggestions leading up to the shoot and have them bring lots of options. Once we’re on location we go over all the different outfits they brought and choose the 2-3 we think will work best. I bring a pop up changing tent on location so switching looks is super easy!

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 85mm 1.8
Canon 70-200 2.8
Reflector

What time of day were these taken?
Late afternoon / Golden Hour

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I shoot in RAW and do most of my post processing in LR. I will then bring the images into PS for some final perfecting. I want the images to still look like the senior but bring out her best!

What is your favorite thing about this session?
The photos of Patience laughing! Having fun and making everyone feel comfortable and bold is what my senior sessions are all about.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
My style is relaxed, fun and colorful – I want my images to show how comfortable and confident each senior becomes during their session. I love how you can see Patience owning her session!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Take the time to get to know each senior before and during her session! I always enjoy talking to clients while taking their photos, don’t be afraid to put down your camera for a question or two 🙂
