Photographing College Seniors is a wonderful way to expand your senior business.  Combine that with a best friend shoot and you have a fun photo session for your business.  That is exactly what Morgan Bell of Southern Bell Photography did in this session below.

Morgan says, “Jessi met Katrina, a student from Latvia, when they both joined the University tennis team. Katrina, a graduating college senior, will be returning home after graduation and as her graduation present, Jessi surprised her with this fun photo session as a reminder of their close friendship and a last bonding experience.”

Check out this fun photo shoot below and be sure to view more of Morgan’s work here.  Thanks for sharing Morgan.

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
The girls wanted a non-posed session with a boho/natural feel.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This beautiful park is actually in Jessi’s neighborhood and fit the theme perfectly.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I generally trust my seniors to choose their own clothing, although I always advise to bring accessories and to layer up for some fun and funky twists on traditional photos. I actually didn’t have a thing to do with the clothing for this session! I pulled up to the session and was thrilled with their outfit choices!

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon Rebel t2i and a 50mm 1.8

What time of day were these taken?
We began at around 4:00 pm on a very overcast, rainy day.

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I just learned how to batch edit in LR. It has saved me HOURS.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love the way the session captures the girls’ relationship and they were not posed for 95% of photos. We would just scout for pretty locations in the park and then they would do something natural, like dance or tell a story!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I wanted to capture the relationship between these two friends, as well as Katrina’s time as a senior.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Let them do their thing. Moms like posed photos, but some of the best ones are the photos of the seniors interacting with you and others and having a fun time!
