Big model or rep shoots can be so much fun and coming up with the concept or theme is part of that fun!  You can be as creative as you want and you can do something that is different from a typical senior photo session.

Sunny Wright of Sunny Wright Photography came up with a super fun concept for her senior models this year.  She went with a vintage swim concept and I love how it turned out!  The beautiful colors, awesome clothing and perfect props make this Senior Model Shoot full of inspiration.

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
My models were actually my inspiration for this. www.shabbyapple.com came out with some SERIOUSLY cute suits and that sold me on the idea.

How many years have you been doing a model/rep program?
My model program has changed over the years but I have been doing SOME form of a model program for about 6 years. This is the second year I have done it as a big group shoot.
How did you find your senior models/reps?
I live in a really small town. I tried to use an application one year and it was counter productive because so many of the kids that applied were kids that I knew really well. It was VERY hard not to hurt feelings. The past few years I have just quietly selected kids that fit what I needed.
How many different high schools are represented?
This year there are only 2 high schools represented.
What rewards or incentives do you offer your models/reps?
My models do not pay a session fee and can earn percentages off of their order with referrals. In all reality, my model program is NOT really intended to bring in lots of referrals though, it just starts a buzz in the spring/summer to get juniors excited about their senior pictures and to get my name in the mix.
Where did this photo shoot take place?

Pasco, Washington

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
The seniors chose their own suits but they had to be approved first. The accessories and props were all mine.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
This was primarily shot using the Canon 5d Mark III and 85mm 1.2 with a few shots using the 24-70 2.8

What time of day were these taken?
6pm-8:15pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
Very little was done to most of these although I did use my FAVORITE Michelle Kane actions to pump up the color and lighting in some. I also added some skies for drama in a few.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session was just how much fun I had. I forget, sometimes, just how much I love photography, light and just plain creativity.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
This session was pure fun. For my models, we do one group shoot in the early spring just to start buzz and this was our concept this year.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
One tip about photographing seniors? The market is crazy saturated, we all know that. I guess my tip is have fun. My best sessions are the ones where I have tried something new….something different. Get the safe shots and then….have FUN!

What is one tip you can give to other photographers on creating a senior model/rep program?
Each year I learn something new. What works for me in my little area might not work for someone else. My model program is very low key with our one big shoot and then the girls do a mini shoot just to get pictures to share. One of my sweet friends that lives near my area has a model program but her models pay full price. The only perk they get is that they get to do the big model shoot with her and her models basically fill her calendar so she has her seniors pretty much wrapped up just with her models. Another friend in the area gives a LOT of incentives including ipods, gift cards to high end clothing stores and etc. That works for her. There are a million ways to do a model program, you just have to decide what works for you.
