It was many, many years ago that I walked across that stage to grab my diploma like many, many students are doing all across the country this very week. I remember the excitement, the feeling of accomplishment and the readiness to move on to my next chapter like it was yesterday!
I also remember the preparation for this huge week in a senior’s life. Getting the cap and gown and then promptly stressing about what I would wear underneath! 🙂 My graduation cap and gown was bright red and being the year it was and my undeveloped style, I wore all red. Yep, red dress, red shoes, red cap and red gown! I am not sure I would suggest going head to toe one color but I do like the idea of celebrating the school colors in which I was graduating! Go Red Foxes! 🙂
Whatever you decide to wear underneath your graduation cap and gown, make sure you showcase your style! Floral print dresses, solid chic dresses, lace or bold patterned dresses all look great underneath that gown! Here are a few tips on choosing the perfect look for your graduation celebration:
– Make sure that you wear something comfortable! Remember you will be sitting for a while listening to all those speeches so you don’t want to be uncomfortable.
– Showcase your style! Pick something that really speaks to you and your sense of style. This is your day and you want to make sure you are…YOU!
– Remember Photos! There are so many photos taken this day so make sure that whatever you wear is something that will stand the test of time in all those photos!
A great way to continue this celebration is to take along that cap and gown or the dress you will wear underneath to your senior photo session. I had several clients do this this year and it turned out great! It gave them another outfit to wear for their session and allowed their moms to relax a bit because they already had great photos taken of this special uniform!
Below is an inspiration board for all the seniors out there wondering what they should wear! If you are a photographer, make sure to share this with your seniors so they get inspired as well!
Happy Graduation and Congratulations to all the 2015 Graduates!
