How many of you are still using cd’s to deliver digital files to your clients?  Me, me, me!  Yes, that’s right.  I was still buying printable cd’s at Office Depot, printing an image and the senior’s name on the front of it and burning that client’s images to that cd.  And sometimes, if the client bought a certain package, I upped my game and bought a custom image box from a lab and packaged the printed cd in that.  Both worked great for me and my clients love getting the digitals…it is the most common product I sell!

But I got to thinking, not all computers come with a cd drive today.  In fact, my own computer does not!  I had to buy a separate cd drive when I purchased my newest Apple computer.  So how many clients today have access to a cd drive in order to get their photos off the cd?

Realizing that sharing files on a cd would sooner or later not be the best route, I started talking to my friends in this business, asking them who they use and what they liked and didn’t like, and doing my own research.  During my research, I came across USB Memory Direct.  This company has so many options!  In fact, I had a hard time deciding on which style would work best for me, which is a great problem to have! 🙂

Once I decided on a style, I could add my logo and customize that style to my brand.  By choosing the color to print my logo in or by choosing to have it engraved, my brand would shine on these flash drives.

So what design did I choose?  Well I loved the clean, white look with my logo in color (since I love color) and I liked the idea of the twist so there was not a separate cap that could get lost.  So I ended up with the Twist Custom Flash Drive.  The cover twists around to reveal the flash drive and twist back to keep it concealed.  It can be printed on both sides making it a great choice for my logo and any other information I may want printed on the flash drive.  It is available in 64MB and up so I was able to get the memory size I needed for my clients images to fit on the flash drive perfectly!

Once these awesome flash drives arrived, I couldn’t wait to start using them!  And here are my thoughts on the design and use of the drives:

Pro:

– I love the fact that I have one step in creating a way to share the photos with my clients!  Before, I was buying cds, printing cds, burning cds and packaging cds.  Too much time.  This is so much more streamlined.  Just plug in the flash drive that is already printed with my logo, transfer the files and I’m done!

– I love the sleek, clean design with a pop of color!  The twisting makes it fun to use and no cap can be lost!

– I love that I could choose from a ton of different designs and each one of the available designs can be customized with my logo or anything I may want to say on my flash drives!

– I love that I can stay up to date on the latest technology by providing my clients with the best way of receiving their digital files!

PS  My clients love them too!!

– I love that I get to experiment with new packaging to create a fun way to deliver these flash drives to my clients!  Boxes, bags, etc….there are tons of options and I can use my creativity to create the perfect package for my clients!  USB Memory Direct even has packaging options for you right on their website!

Con:

– If I had to say anything negative it would be that it took me a few proofs to get the color right.  However, the team at USB Memory Direct did an excellent job of making sure I was in love with it before printing and shipping.  The customer service was great!

– The cost may be a little higher per flash drive than per cd but when I factored in the cost of the separate cd drive I had to buy in order to burn the cd in the first place, the cost of the cds, the ink to print the cds and the extra time it took to do all those steps, the flash drives seemed like a better option.
