Episode #10 – Art Elements, Concept Shoots and Carissa Davis

From art education to photography, today’s podcast is an interview with Carissa Davis who specializes in bright, vibrant, cheery photos for high school seniors in which she incorporates art elements subtly throughout her images.

In Episode #10 of The Seniorologie Podcast, I interview Carissa on what we can expect to learn from her at Conference Twelve, how any photographer can incorporate art elements to perfect their images and how concept shoots can be your way of marketing to seniors.

The Seniorologie Podcast is a weekly podcast hosted by Leslie Kerrigan, creator of Seniorologie, for high school senior photographers.  Whether you are just starting out or you have been photographing seniors for a while, The Seniorologie Podcast is your resource for all things senior photography related.

Highlights from Episode 10:

  • You don’t have to have an art background – you don’t have to have an art background in order to consider rules of art in your images.  By thinking of elements from the art world, you can up your game in your images!
  • Consider Colors and the Color Wheel – Study the color wheel and use that when choosing backgrounds.  What colors is your senior client wearing, and what color would work best to make the best possible image.
  • Consider Your Brand – Think about your own brand when creating photos for clients so that your brand is consistent and stands out.
  • Review your images – Review past images and look at them with color in mind.  What stands out to you?  Which ones fit your brand?  Are they popping?
