Social media can be a powerful tool for senior photographers to attract and book new clients. One of the first things I encourage new photographers to do is establish a social media presence for themselves. After all, where are the seniors themselves going to be other than all over social media?? We know with confidence that our target audience is using social media. I would be willing to be almost all of their parents are too! Here are some tips for how you can leverage social media to book more clients in less than 5 hours a week!

How to Leverage Social Media to Book More Clients in Less Than 5 Hours a Week

Focus on The Right Platforms

When deciding which social media platforms to utilize for your business, there are a lot of options out there. Let me help you narrow it down. Instagram, Tiktok, and Snapchat are going to be great platforms to connect with seniors themselves. As far as parents go, Instagram and Facebook are also going to be great places! When starting out, I would recommend focusing on Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook. It’s easy to repurpose content across these three platforms. You can sync your Facebook and Instagram together so anything you post on one platform goes right to the other. You can also repurpose any TikToks you make as Instagram reels or vice versa.

Consistency is Key

We’ve all heard the saying, “Consistency is key”. Well, the same goes for social media! It doesn’t necessarily matter how often you post, but it does matter that you do it consistently. Aim to post at least once per week on each of your chosen platforms. (Remember, you can repurpose content across multiple platforms to make it easy for yourself!) Consider using a social media scheduling tool like Plann, Later, Planoly, or Hootsuite to help you schedule content in advance. This will save you even more time! You also want to make sure that your content is consistent with your brand. Whether it be a reel, a graphic, a story, etc., your content needs to fit your brand identity and coordinate with your values as a business. Don’t be afraid to show your personality on social media! It’s YOUR business and your brand. Let people get to know who you are and what you are like to work with!

Engage With Your Followers

Another really important piece to leveraging social media is keeping up with engagement. Engagement includes things like responding to comments on your posts and checking and responding to DMs regularly to build relationships. It also includes interacting with other accounts in your niche to expand your reach and attract new followers. Take 10 minutes a day at max, or, however you prefer to split it up, to jump on your platforms and maintain engagement. React to any comments you’ve gotten on your posts, check your DMs, and show some love to other senior photographers that you follow! Engagement is another way to make a big investment in your business without a lot of time on your end, leaving you room to do what you love!

Offer Exclusive Promotions

Take advantage of your reach on social media and offer exclusive promotions and discounts to your followers! This could look like a 20% off code for those who book with you, a giveaway for a free mini-session, or maybe a free print for those who send you a dm to book! Whatever you feel fits best for you and your brand. Doing an exclusive social media-only promotion can help incentivize potential clients to book with you and encourage them to share your work with their networks. One idea I love for giveaways is to make the requirements something like tagging two friends in the comments, sharing this post in your story, etc. This allows your followers to share your content with those they know, and get your business in front of the eyes of even more potential clients.

Start Leveraging Social Media To Book More Clients

I want you to create a content plan for your social media accounts for just the next month. Even if you plan to post once a week, go ahead and get your content, captions, etc. planned out so it’s easy to do! Take a little time on the front end to set yourself up for success with little effort on the back end! And if you aren’t already using a scheduling service to help you out, look into some of the options out there. A lot of platforms offer free memberships that would be a great place for you to start as you grow. And remember…you CAN do this!

I hope you found these tips helpful and are ready to go leverage your social media to book more clients!  As always, if you have questions or want to chat, I would love to hear from you! DM me on Instagram or email me at info@seniorologie.com!
