What is cooler than a laundromat, a petti skirt and a VW van?  Not much!  This photo shoot struck me because of the cool vibe that it has.  I love the converse sneakers and moccasins!

Julie Fraser of Julie Fraser Photography is the photographer behind this session.  She lives in Texas with her three boys, and according to her, she lives and breathes pictures!  I love to hear about photographer’s passions about their craft!

Below is what Julie had to say about this photo session.  Be sure to check out more of her work here.  Thanks Julie!!

What was the inspiration for this photo shoot? Honestly, I really just go with the flow of the shoot. I know spots I want the pictures taken, from there everything falls into place.

Where did this photo shoot take place? We went to a few different locations. The first was the laundry mat, where I knew I wanted to use the old record player that I found at goodwill that day. Angel wanted pictures with a VW bus. The one in the pictures happened to drive by while we were shooting. I swear it was fate. That is the car she wants.

Did you collaborate with the senior to come up with the clothing worn in this session?  I let Angel know an idea of what I wanted. She brought a bag of clothes over to the house and I went through them with her. The girls usually have an idea of how they want to dress. And I also want them to dress to their style, not mine.

What camera, lens and equipment were used during this session? I use Nikon D300 with 50mm 1.4 and my 70-200 vr  lens. I tend to use my 50mm most of the time.

What time of day was this shot? We left around 4:30 and went till it was dark.

Can you share any post processing techniques that were used when editing this session? I always make adjustments in LR and use a few pre-sets, then I head on over to PS where I use Florabella most of the time.

What is your favorite thing about these images? I love the feel of these images, especially the ones with the vw bus. That is one of my favorite images from this series.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your photography style? I really don’t have a definition for my style. I go out and do what I love. This was one of those sessions that turned out beautiful.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers when it comes to photographing seniors? Just enjoy the moment. I try to make my sessions as comfortable as possible, with lots of laughing and joking around. And I don’t think you have to have a set style. Everyone Senior  you photograph is so different, so each style is different.
