I had the pleasure of meeting Andrea of Andrea Starr Photography in Vegas at WPPI this year and we became fast friends!  She is so much fun to be around and I can only imagine that her seniors have a ball on their photo shoots!!

Andrea is a photographer in Tri-Cities, Washington and she specializes in senior portrait photography.  Below she shares a little about herself, her business and answers some fun questions!

Check out some of Andrea’s work below and be sure to visit her website and like her facebook page!! 🙂

How long have you been in business?  I’ve been in business about four years, although it’s easy to lose count. I always have to think about the age of my youngest daughter in order to come up with my business “birth.”

What percentage of your business is seniors?  Last year, about 25% of my business was seniors. I’d like to triple that percentage within the next couple of years.

What do you think makes a perfect senior session?  A makeup artist, tons of clothing options, accessories, and a senior who’s as excited as I am for the photoshoot.

What do you love most about photographing seniors?  I love that they WANT to be there. And it’s so fun (and amazing!) to see how much things have changed since I had my senior pictures done years ago (insert “old lady” comment here). The young ladies I photograph now are confident in their own style and I only wish I would have been that way at their age!

What would you say is the biggest challenge in your business?  The biggest challenge is staying focused and not hemming and hawing over what you think you should be doing in the business. Also, I try to remind myself (without much success) that I create my own definition of success for my business, so I’m usually my worst enemy in terms of overworking myself.

Describe your photography style? I think my style is clean, bright…at times soft and romantic…and hopefully as candid as possible.

What motivates or inspires you in your photography? LIGHT. I actually get giddy on a shoot when I have beautiful light.

Twenty Questions Game…Just for fun!
