The Seniorologie Directory is a listing of senior portrait photographers across the country.  The purpose of the directory is to provide seniors a place to find the perfect senior portrait photographer for their senior photos.  As a member of the Seniorologie Directory, photographers receive a blog post that gives them the opportunity to share a little about their business and themselves.

Today’s Seniorologie Directory Member Share is from Tracy Robinson of SpryArt Photography in The Woodlands, Texas.  Check out her work and read all about her below.

How long have you been in business? Unofficially, since 2006 (i.e. just taking pix for friends when they asked)… officially since 2009. I worked full time for an eCommerce consulting company and also had a full time nanny watching my kids. It was rough. My business really took off once I became official and I was able to leave the corporate world behind about a year after I put my website up and really started trying to make my photography business work! I have not looked back a single time!

What percentage of your business is a senior?  About 30-40%

What do you think makes a perfect senior session?  Great styling is important, but a great attitude is even better. I like seniors to have FUN during their sessions, but also to show me their inner Tyra Banks 🙂

What do you love most about photographing seniors? Well, I kind of feel like I never grew up in a lot of ways… so connecting with this group is a lot of fun!  Seniors these days are SO smart and really have it together. I am so impressed with this generation!!!

What would you say is the biggest challenge in your business?  Finding the time to work! I have four kiddos (and one on the way) that need my time and attention. I can never really say no to a session request, and feel like I am constantly behind. But I love the business so much!

Describe your photography style?  I would say most people that see my images can immediately pick them out as mine because of the focus on bright colors.  I don’t care if it’s a newborn or a senior… if you love color, I’m your girl. Likewise, if you are afraid of color, but don’t want to be… I am there for you!

What motivates or inspires you in your photography? See above. Color! Great styling. Great attitudes. Pretty light!

Twenty Questions Game…Just for fun!

Where are you from/live? The Woodlands, Texas.  I’ve lived in Texas since I was 11

Married? Yep

Kids? Four plus one on the way! I love, love, love having a big family!

What are their ages? Three girls, ages 7,8,10, and one boy, aged 6

Nikon or Cannon? Cannon

What kind of camera bag do you carry? Kelly Moore when I want to be stylish and a boring (yet very protective!) black Tamarac backpack

Favorite music to edit to?  I am either listening to an HGTV design show (channelling my inner interior designer), some kind of documentary on Netflix (usually food or health), or Pandora Comedy when I edit!

Favorite Photoshop Action? I make my own that I use on 99% of my images

A photographer that inspires you? Well, who dosen’t love Jinky?

Favorite Food? I’m a vegetarian… so I think I am obligated to say fruits and veggies here! Love salads and green smoothies… and yes PIZZA… which is why I could never truly go vegan even though I want to.

Favorite place to shop? Francesca’s, Anthropologie, Joss&Main

Favorite drink at Starbucks? Spicy Vanilla Lattte

Favorite Guilty Pleasure? does online shopping count? How about Pinterest?

Favorite memory from when you were a senior? Can I say the entire year? I am still in touch with almost all of my best friends. Love that we have such a history together!

Favorite Quote or Saying? “If you find yourself heading in the wrong direction, God allows U-turns.” This can be applicable to SO MANY facets of your life!

Favorite Workshop or photography event you have attended? Jinky. Michelle Huegsen of Untamed Heart Photography really got me interested in shooting seniors at her workshop!

Favorite Magazine? Any decorating magazine… I love them all

Favorite Vacation Spot?  I truly love the Texas hill country (floating the river, antiquing) for long weekends. And Mexico is always great!
