Typically I am not the kind of girl to make New Year’s Resolutions.  I’m a realist and I figure realistically the chances for me to actually stick to a resolution is slim to none.  So why make them to only disappoint myself?  Right?  Well, as I was talking to a great friend and photographer, Holli True, she pointed out that making goals for the New Year was not only useful but would actually help make those dreams a reality!

Since today is January 2nd, what better time to talk about resolutions, dreams and goals.  It is the beginning of a new year…out with the old and in with the new!  A new year gives us hope and promise for the future.  And in our businesses, as photographers, it is the perfect time to think about what you want for your business this year. As Holli suggested to me, writing down small and big things is important.  And when you get to cross those things off your list, you will feel fantastic!

So I decided to share with you a few goals and dreams of the coming year for Seniorologie!  There are some fun things coming up that are already in the works and some new things I hope to have happen during 2012 to make Seniorologie even better!

One of the major things for Seniorologie in 2012 is the first stop on The Seniorologie Tour in Atlanta, Georgia!  I am beyond excited to have such wonderful photographers willing to speak on this tour and I can’t wait to meet all the attendees in Atlanta!  Putting together a workshop was a goal/dream of mine last year and to actually see it happening is a little unbelievable!

One of my favorite things about photography is when I get the opportunity to learn and share with other photographers.  I have always said that if I could go to a workshop every month, I would!  I love it!  I never went to camp as a kid but I feel like workshops are the camps I missed out on.  I leave each one with a new list of email pals and photographer friends and so much knowledge that I am usually busting at the seams to use it in my own business.

The Seniorologie Tour is going to be that and so much more!  It will be an all-access pass to all things Senior Portrait Photography related!  Two days full of learning from four of the industry’s top senior photographers, Holli True, Amanda Holloway, Courtney DeLaura and Lisa Carpenter, and a chance to shoot along side each of these photographers and gain amazing images for your portfolio!  We have so much to share and really hope you will join us April 22-24.  There are seats still available but only a limited number!  If you are interested in taking your senior photography business to the next level, come to The Seniorologie Tour!  To register, click here.

Another goal for Seniorologie in 2012 is to continue to find unique senior photo sessions to share with our fans and readers!  I love searching the internet and I love receiving awesome submissions from photographers.  I hope to share with you the behind the scenes info of how each photographer came up with the concept and location for each shoot.  I hope that you will be able to learn from these posts as much as I have, and I hope that  you will be inspired to think outside the box when creating those senior photo shoots for your clients.

The third goal for Seniorologie that I can share with you is to go to WPPI.  I went to WPPI for the first time last year and can’t wait to go back this year!  I hope to bring you all information regarding senior portrait photography, products for senior photographers and their clients and much, much more.  And if you are planning to go to WPPI, let me know!  There may be a chance for Seniorologie fans to get together! (another goal!)  Stay tuned!

There are a few other goals for Seniorologie in 2012 that are still in the works.  I promise to keep you posted as soon as these things become official.  But for now, take this time in the beginning of this new year and write down your own goals and dreams.  Don’t be afraid to write down things that may seem unreachable now.  You just never know what could happen in 2012!  To quote one of my favorite photography couples and friends, Justin and Mary Marantz, “You have my permission to dream big!”  These two are responsible for showing me that I can dream big and these dreams can come true!  Without them, Seniorologie wouldn’t be where it is today!  I shared my dream with them and they said to go for it!  They let me know that it was ok to make it happen and I did!

You too can dream big and make things happen!  Here’s to a wonderful 2012!!  If you feel comfortable, I would love to hear your dreams and goals for 2012!  Leave them in the comment section below!  You will be amazed at how sharing these dreams can be the first step to making them come true!  Happy New Year!
