I remember my senior year in high school as a year of adventures.  I lived in a very small town and there was nothing to do, so road trips were a popular thing to do!  We lived about an hour from the beach, thirty minutes from a town with a movie theatre and an hour from the capitol of the state.  So as soon as we could drive, we did!

This senior session, submitted by Haley Graham of Haley Graham Photography in Oregon, embodies everything a road trip gives you.  That feeling of being free to go where you want and do what you want and have tons of fun along the way is exactly what Haley and this senior did for this photo session.  I can definitely tell from the photos below that they had a great time and found some awesome locations along the way!

Check out this photo session below and be sure to check out more of Haley’s work here.  Thanks for sharing Haley!!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
The senior herself was the inspiration for this photoshoot! Maggie wanted something unique for her session, and after discussing a few different options we decided that spending all day road tripping to the beach was the way to go. Maggie’s style fit perfectly with the vagabond, free people feel of the shoot, and it all came together to reflect her fun personality and incredible natural beauty!

Where did this photo shoot take place? We started driving from Lake Oswego, Oregon and ended at Canon Beach on the coast. We took different exits off of the main highway along the way and stopped whenever we found a picture perfect spot.

Did you collaborate with this senior on the concept and wardrobe for this shoot?
We came up with the idea of an all day road trip photo shoot together, but wardrobe wise all the credit goes to Maggie! This girl has an INCREDIBLE sense of style, and I think this shines through her photos in the best way possible. I was drooling over her outfits!

What time of day was this shot?
These pictures were shot between 12 and 5pm, and we had great light with the overcast oregon coast skies.

What camera, lens and equipment was used during this shoot?
I kept it simple with my Canon 7D and 50mm 1.4 lens.

What post-processing techniques were used when editing this session?
I try to get every picture as close to perfect as possible straight out of the camera so that in the end they just need a little bit of brightening and re-touching, which I do in Photoshop CS4. I also use the dodge and burn tools to create deeper shadows or lighten different areas of the image!

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session is that I think every picture shows a little piece of Maggie’s personality. I always want my seniors to feel carefree and comfortable being themselves during their photoshoots, because that way we always have fun, and we always get images that reflect who they are.

What do you feel this session conveys about this senior and about your  photography style?
I feel that this session conveys Maggie’s confidence, energy, and her sweet, fun loving personality. And of course, we can’t forget her amazing style! In regards to my photography style, I think it conveys my love for amazing light, fashion photography, and for snapping that perfect-moment, unposed picture.
