This cool, hip senior session comes from the incredibly talented Shannon Sewell!  I had the opportunity to attend one of her workshops and she truly is amazing!  The sets she puts together for her shoots are magazine worthy and this senior session is no exception!  I think they could be on the cover of Rolling Stones!

Below is what Shannon said about this rock and roll senior photo shoot….

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?   When the client contacted me, I asked her what drew her to me….what her style was.  She found me from Jane over at Sea of Shoes blog (I have photographed Jane a couple of times) and really loved those shoots.  She is also an actress and said she had an affinity for all things old hollywood and would love something a little rock inspired and urban.

Where did this photo shoot take place? We shot in downtown Dallas

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with clothing in this session?  She brought all of her own clothes (after we talked about the themes mentioned above).  She also hired my good friend and amazing stylist, Vanessa from ButterlySpArks to help style her shoot.  Vanessa brought in the props you see and helped put the outfits together.

What camera, lens and equipment were used for this session?  I used my Canon 5D Mark II and my 85mm and 35mm lenses, which is pretty much all I use.

What time of day was this shot?   We shot in the evening…about 3 hours before sunset.

Were there any special post processing techniques used on these photos?  Nope!  I always do the same post-processing.  I am a big fan of Nichole Van’s Flourish Actions.

What is your favorite thing about these photos?  We joked that she had the BEST fake laugh ever!  It turned into a real laugh most times and I love all the fun and energy her personality gave the shoot.

What do you want to convey about this senior and your photography with this session?  I always want to showcase my subject’s personality and style.  She had the best, most energetic personality, and I love that she totally brought it to the set and we were able to capture her more urban, rock vibe within it all.

What is one tip you can share with other senior photographers?  Really pay attention to what your senior loves and gets excited about.  If you are tapping into that, you are bound to have photos that completely showcase who they are at this amazing time in their lives!
