Capturing the essence of a senior is a true talent on the photographer’s part.  You really need to get to know the client, then help them with their wardrobe and then pick locations that all help capture who that senior client is for their session.

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Paige’s bohemian, earthy style and free spirit was the inspiration for this photo shoot.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
We took these at Fort Frederick State Park in Big Pool, MD and a privately owned farm near the park. We passed the farm on the way to the park and both admired its rustic beauty so we pulled back the lane and asked permission to take a few photos there and the owner graciously granted our request.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes, we talked about Paige’s style and she showed me all of her clothing choices before her session so that we could determine together which outfit worked the best for each photo.

4:30-7:30PM

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
We hand edit all of our photos to make them look as natural and close to life as possible.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session is Paige’s unique style and relaxed and easygoing personality and her willingness to take direction and try anything that was asked of her in order to make some amazing photos.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want this session to convey not only Paige’s outer beauty but also her inner beauty and her unique personality. That is what I strive to capture in all of my senior sessions in a natural and relaxed style of photography.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
The best tip I can give is to get to know your seniors so that you can really capture them in their natural light. Not just who they are on the surface but dig a little deeper into who they really are and their hopes and dreams for their future.
