Putting together styled shoots is a great way to show potential clients what you offer and what to expect if they book with you.  By showcasing a senior in the right kind of outfits, the number of outfits, different makeup looks, and a variety of locations you can show potential clients exactly what a senior session with you looks like.

“I wanted to show my ideal senior session offering,” said Christina Venturini of Blue Pear Photography in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “It was important for me to capture a series of photographs in multiple, varying outfits and makeup looks that exemplifies the expressive, fashion-forward senior.”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
In selecting the wardrobe and style for the session, Katelyn was inspired by early 1960s preppy and proper style with stripes and A-line silhouettes, mixed with modern, sleek, cool girl attitude and a little edge.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia
What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I primarily shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III. This was captured with a Sigma 70-200 2.8 and a Canon 24-70 2.8

What time of day were these taken?
6 pm and later

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this was the variety. Even within the style theme, the three of us (me, Katelyn and our model Joanna) were able to collaborate to elicit a number of different moods and expressions. As a photographer, this is of the utmost importance to me in a senior session, as it rounds out the images into the story of the senior.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
This session exemplifies the experience that a senior who works with me enjoys… the talent of my team, the commitment to bringing out their best in a natural, comfortable setting where the only focus is to spotlight their natural beauty, both inside and out.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Do inspiration sessions to flex a little creative muscle whenever you can. I have my favorite images from this session, but what was most important was the partnership with gorgeous model Joanna and Stylist Katelyn and the insight and creativity they brought from their expertise. Working as a team and getting out to try something new and bring an image you’ve envisioned to life with no rules and no limits is so rewarding.
