Some sessions are just perfect from the start.  The chemistry between photographer and client are great, the day is perfect, the clothing is super cute and the lighting is gorgeous!  This session was one of those sessions according to photographer Brooke Jackson of Brooke Michelle Photography in Baltimore, Maryland.

“Throughout the hair and makeup process we were all giggling and goofing off,” said Brooke.  “It was one of those sessions where you just know, before you even shoot, that is is going to turn into a favorite!”

Check out this session below and read what else Brooke had to say about it.  Thanks for sharing your work with Seniorologie Brooke!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Our inspiration for this shoot was essentially the transition from summer to fall! It’s the beginning of senior year, the sunflowers are still just barely in bloom and hats/other fun accessories are starting to come back into season!

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Wye Island in Centreville, Maryland

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Majority of my seniors and I work together with a local boutique, The Boutique at Body Wellness, to style their session the way THEY want it! We also meet up with a hair and make-up artist the day of the shoot to help them feel pampered and create an entire experience, as opposed to just a photo shoot!

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
For this shoot I used my main body, the Canon 5D Mark III with a Canon 50mm 1.4 lens!

What time of day were these taken?
The last two hours of sun! 6pm-7:30pm

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My absolute favorite thing about this session is the transition from outfit to outfit! I think the best part of senior portraits is getting to openly be whoever and whatever you want! Sometimes in high school I feel decisions are swayed or changed by their peers, so to be able to open up and be yourself is my favorite part of any senior session!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want this session to show the entire experience that a senior session could have! It is all about celebrating this transition in life. For me specifically, I bring in lifestyle elements like fluid posing, and everyday casual outfits to help the entire session feel real and raw! I really hope to share that with the senior photography world!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Don’t be afraid to make a fool of yourself! Sometimes it can be difficult to pull real laughs and emotions from seniors, especially ones you just met for the first time on the day of their shoot! When I tell my seniors to dance, I dance with them! We make fools of ourselves but we have fun and we laugh, like really laugh!
