Carrie David of Carrie David Photography strives to bring lots of color to her images in both the photography aspect and through the senior’s wardrobes! This client has a ton of style and all of it works well with Carrie’s colorful photography!
Check out this beautiful session below and be sure to check out Carrie’s work here.  Thanks for sharing Carrie!!
What was your inspiration for the photo shoot?
Kelsey is the 2011 Frog Festival Queen and I was super excited when she contacted me wanting pictures in her crown!  Like I do for every session, I began brainstorming of different poses and locations that I could take Kelsey and incorporate her crown with a formal outfit as well as “fun” and more casual outfits!
Where did this photo shoot take place?
I decided that UL Alumni Center in Lafayette, LA would be a great location for the formal shots since the grounds are gorgeous and the Alumni Center is a little more elegant.  If you could imagine a hot humid day in mid June, in Louisiana, then you can imagine what type of heat we were dealing with!  It was EXTREMELY HOT and I was 6 months pregnant at the time of the shoot!  Kelsey beat the heat though and rocked her formal wear and then the “fun” casual outfits! We traveled to 3 other places around the Lafayette area for the rest of shoot.  I had previously picked out those locations based on Kelsey’s outfits.
Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I communicate several times with my clients and even their mom on outfits.  I always send them ideas of what I think looks good on camera and then the ideas start flowing from there!  The most important thing to me is that the client feels pretty and is comfortable in whatever she has on!
What camera, lens and equipment were used for this shoot?
Nikon D700 85 1.4G
What time of day were these taken?
From 5-7 p.m.
What is your favorite thing about this session?
I think it is very hard for my to pick 1 thing that would be my favorite from this session because I had such a great time and I love all of the pictures.  If I had to pick something, it would have to be Kelsey’s outfit selections!  This girl has style!
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
She isn’t actually a senior this year.  She graduated last year but she is still in my target market age group, she is 19!
I want people to look at my photography and think that it is unique, stylish, and modern!  I strive for color: color in clients outfits and color in my background!
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
I think giving the client the FULL experience starting from hair and makeup down to a fun session filled with a variety of outfits and locations is key!  When you feel pretty, you shoot pretty and getting hair and makeup done can only help with that!
