What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
The senior photographed, Maggie, was my inspiration for this colorful photo shoot. Maggie is wonderful, everything about her. She has such a fabulous outlook on life that is so vibrant and rich, I wanted to make sure that I captured just that.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
I use a Canon 5D Mark II. As for lenses, my most used were the 50mm f/1.4 and the 85mm f/1.8

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Maggie is one of my class of 2014 senior representatives. We had a really great relationship and had envisioned this session together. I allowed Maggie to choose the location as well as the outfits she would bring along, however I chose which outfit I thought went best with each location.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I use a Canon 5D Mark II. As for lenses, my most used were the 50mm f/1.4 and the 85mm f/1.8. I use all natural light to highlight and showcase each individual I photograph.

What time of day were these taken?
Golden hour

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I hand edit all my images individually, and retouch them using Photoshop CS4. I love to just enrich the colors and make them compliment the photos.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session is how much fun Maggie and I had. We made so many memories together and had formed a friendship over the course of the year. This was the last session I would be having with Maggie as a senior rep, so I just wanted to make it an extra special experience for her. I love Maggie’s ability to shine through the photographs and have a fun time doing so.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
My senior style is luminous and fun. I love to play with the light and colors around me to tell a story and inspire. Being a high school senior should be one of the best years of your entire life. I just love to live in that moment with them and tell their personal story through my photographs.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
I want this session to inspire photographers and seniors to have fun during their sessions. Photographs are taken sometimes too seriously and I believe that the photos come out better when you and the senior are relaxed
