Making your senior model shoot different from each of the model’s individual sessions is key to giving them a well-rounded experience.

“This session was the highlight of my senior model program for the Class of 2015,” said Jessie Kenney of Juneberry Photo in California.  “Every year I love getting my models together for a session that is different from their individual sessions.”

Check out this beautiful session below that was taken at San Juan Capistrano mission.  Thanks for sharing this beautiful session with Seniorologie Jessie!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
I was completely inspired by downtown San Juan Capistrano! The mission, the culture, the textures and tones…everything. I wanted to create a sort of monochromatic feel with the images and loved using the mission as a backdrop.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
We chose the amazing and historical San Juan Capistrano Mission as the location for this shoot. I am so glad we got the opportunity to use this stunning property!

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Normally, I do like to collaborate with my senior clients when planning a shoot but since this was my styled group shoot for the year, I was able to play with my own concept. I did, however, collaborate with a friend, and fashion stylist, Heather Rome. She is always a pleasure to work with.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
These images were shot on a Cannon 6D with a 50 mm 1.4 lens.

What time of day were these taken?
Fall/Winter

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
Since I wanted a soft, film feel with a slight fashion edge, I used Alien Skin actions and did slight adjustments in Adobe Camera Raw.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing was spending time with my models and watching them enjoy a day of pure, girly, bliss! We had the best time!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I hope that this session shows off my models and their inner confidence. I think the location was the perfect balance of grand architecture and simplicity. The girls were the main focus of this shoot for sure which is what I want to convey to all my clients.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
I would advise senior photographers to really seek out the quiet moments in between shots. The unexpected reactions when teens are looking over at something else or brushing the hair away from their face. It’s those moments that can be the most genuine and beautiful.
