What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
My inspiration for this shoot was light. I wanted to capture Michaela in the gorgeous, buttery backlight which added a magical quality to her senior images.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Rogers, AR

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes, Michaela and I discussed her clothing options. She wanted a casual outfit, a colorful outfit which showcased her fun personality and a lace and flower crown for a more whimsical feel.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I used a Canon 5D Mark iii and a Canon 85 1.2 lens. I also used a silver reflector.

What time of day were these taken?
golden hour

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
These images were shot in strong backlight. I enhanced the sun in the images by adding warmth and also increased the contrast to bring out the colors and my subject.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love how we achieved a variety of looks with Michaela’s clothing choices and the use of three different locations- a wooded area, a patch of wildflowers, and a grassy field.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want to show that my senior has many facets to her personality and that she is beautiful inside as well as outside.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
To create beautiful backlight images, use a lens hood and don’t be afraid to move around to get the best light.
