What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Genna has this fashionista style to her and wanted some place with a little urban flair. The mix with her wardrobe and the backgrounds/textures/locations that Ybor has to offer made for a perfect fit.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Ybor City, right outside of Tampa, Florida

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
A little bit of both. Genna knew we were shooting in Ybor City and with an urban feel. I sent her my Pinterest board to give her some ideas on what to wear. She ended up choosing the outfits and nailed it.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 6D
Tamron 70-200 2.8
Tamron 28-70 2.8

What time of day were these taken?
Evening

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I love to keep my images clean and not a lot of post processing. I want them to be timeless and not any particular editing style to them. Other than cleaning up some unexpected visitors in the background, a few blemishes, etc., most are all straight out of camera.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love the final images and the feeling you get with these shots. It shows seniors that you can step out of the box a little bit, pull in your personality to your session. Geena plays on the school softball team so adding in her softball pictures on the school field was a perfect ending.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
That Geena has a sense of style and then the tomboy side to her. She can rock it out in a dress but put her on the softball field and a whole different side comes out. I love for my seniors to really put themselves into their sessions. Whether it’s the way they dress, the sports they play or their interests, it’s a part of who they are so pulling them into their session is showing off them.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Listen to your seniors. It’s their senior year so don’t make the session all about what you want to do. Bring in your senior’s passions and interests and make sure that you are getting their personalities, not what you want it to be.
