I love it when seniors have a great idea for their shoot!  When they show up with ideas and a vision for their shoot, it really makes the planning process fun and easy!  Carmen Evans of Love Carmen Rose says that her senior came to the consultation with her very own vision and an extensive private Pinterest board.  How fun!

Check out this beautiful session below and read what else Carmen had to share about it.  Thank you for sharing this session Carmen!!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Alyssa McCourt has a very versatile personal style. She once told me that if her friends would never wear it then she probably would. She has an affinity for Couture and inspired by fashion designers not just trends. She wanted an edgey all leather look, a feminine lady like look, a boho look and a outdoors- mountatin top look. I think she accomplished all of them with pizzazz!

Where did this photo shoot take place?
a farm in Burleson Texas just 25 minutes outside Fort Worth.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes,Alyssa had an initial vision and we brainstormed the locations for all her “looks”. We also desided to use both of her dogs, Wenston and Cookie. It was the most fun Ive had including pets in a shoot.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5D MK II a 50mm f1.2L

What time of day were these taken?
3:30-5:30pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I use Photo-Mechanic for all my culling. It shows a mirror of the image instead of the actuall image making the culling process much faster. I use LightRoom followed by photoshop for every shoot. I have a rule, if I can’t see their pores then I have done to much! I also love Black and white I took 3 semesters of black and white film photogrpahy, I love how it changes the mood of a photograph. I feel that black and white is so romantic. I know fewer and fewer photographers are using it in portraiture but I do feel like it is one of my signature styles. bout an 8th of my images turn out black and white.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I sort of adore Alyssa! I took her sisters senior portraits and it is so fun to see the differences between sisters, especially since I have two sisters.
Also I love Alyssa’s personal confidence, she is not the type of girl that would ever talk poorly about her appearance. I think it comes from a place of being truly content with who she is. She also has an amazing attitude. On the day of our shoot it was supposed to rain and the humidity…. oh the humidity was so high the curls in her hair fell right out! But Alyssa said ” I actually think the weather goes with my outfits”

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
This Senior is lovely from the inside out, and she is confident… plus she has fabulous taste in style.
My personal is more candid than portraiture. I always tell my clients that my favorite portraits are the ones that capture the moments between the moments.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Getting to know your senior prior to the shoot is the key to capturing their heart!!
