What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
The Mt. Adams area of Cincinnati is an exclusive neighborhood perched at the top of a steep hill overlooking the city of Cincinnati and the Ohio river, as well as the rolling hills of Kentucky just beyond. The hilly landscape is reminiscent of San Francisco. There are many eclectic restaurants and bars, and the views truly are spectacular. So, I can safely say that our location inspired me quite a bit! Also, Lauren has a unique style that I would describe as modern boho. As Lauren and her friends explored the streets of Mt. Adams, I really had a feeling that we were on a movie set! A movie about three girls about to go off to college…

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Mt. Adams, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I made a Pinterest board before the shoot that I shared with Lauren, of clothing that reminded me of her, and images that conveyed a general mood of carefree fun and friendship.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5D Mark ii, 50L, 85 1.8, 42″ reflector (white side only).

What time of day were these taken?
2 hours before sunset.
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I have my own preset that I made, which I use on all of my senior images, loosely based on the VSCO presets. I also finished them off with a couple of the L’Artiste actions from Skai Photography.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session is the way the close friendship of these 3 girls was captured alongside Lauren’s own beautiful senior portraits in a way that froze them in time. Lauren will always be able to remember how much fun they had together when she looks back at these photographs… And that’s something unique.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I feel like the images go along with my very natural style of shooting and editing. I don’t over process any of my images, just enhance them and make them feel more “filmy” to me. I adore film and always endeavor to add that filmesque feeling to my images. I think it’s pretty plain to see that Lauren’s fun-loving attitude and natural beauty come through in these images as well…

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Let them bring their friends! I hear about photographers charging extra for seniors to bring their friends and I always wonder about that… It makes them have more fun and feel more comfortable in my experience, and makes the session so much more memorable for them.
