Proving that it is never too late to do a senior photo session, Micah Williams of Micah Williams Photography did this session a year after this senior graduated.
“This is unique in that the girl, Caroline, is actually 19.  She was unable to do senior photos at the time she graduated, so these are just about a year late!  Better now than never!” said Micah.
I agree!!  These photos are beautiful and really showcase this Senior and her love, her horse Moe.
Check out these beautiful photos below and read what Micah had to say about this session!  Be sure to check out Micah’s other work here.  Thanks for sharing Micah!!
What was your inspiration for the photo shoot?
Caroline’s horse, Moe, was my main inspiration for the photoshoot…the minute I found out about Moe, I became so ecstatic to incorporate him into her session!
Where did this photo shoot take place?
Verse Noia Farm in North Atlanta (Horse Farm where Moe lives)
Did you collaborate with this senior to come u with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
It is so important to collaborate with your seniors before shoots. Caroline and I discussed the concepts of the shoot, as well as wardrobe ideas before the session. I love bright, bold colors, and encouraged Caroline to bring items like this, as well as one’s that would complement Moe (neutrals) for some close ups.
What camera, lens and equipment were used for this shoot?
I shoot with a Nikon D5000. I primarily shot this session with my 50mm 1.4 lens.
What time of day were these taken?
I shot these photos around mid afternoon/late afternoon from about 3-5:30 – it was an overcast day, and in the 40’s! It was freezing, but we were able to get some great shots anyways! Caroline was a real trooper through the blistering cold! By the end of the shoot, our hands were so numb we couldn’t even move them!
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
First, I want to share that I shoot in RAW and that it is very important to get your settings correctly in the camera while you are shooting. When your settings are done correctly, it is so much easier to edit and just enhance your photos. I also do my own customization and then often finish my photos off with some actions/textures from Florabella Actions. Shana is amazing and if you do not have her textures/actions, you should check her out!
What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite part of this session, was that Caroline was actually 19. She was never able to take her senior photos that she wanted while she was in high school. I loved the fact that I was able to help her by taking these photos for her….and it was so magical taking them with her 20 year old horse Moe. Moe and Caroline have a great connection – the love they have for one another shined during the whole session. Being an avid animal lover, this was definitely what made the session for me!
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I definitely want everyone to know that I love to really develop my sessions with seniors. I take many hours getting to know my seniors, what interests they have, and tieiring their sessions towards their interests. Making seniors feel comfortable and relaxed is also very important in getting natural photos.
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
It is very important to be in tune with what’s popular with current seniors. I read a lot of magazines and am friends with many of my seniors and past clients on facebook so I can study the trends. Relating to seniors is the most important aspect of the session so they feel comfortable with you and being in front of the camera.
