What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
This shoot was very boho, whimsical, and slightly cheeky at times.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This shoot took place in a secret forest I used to play in as a child in Central California.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
No.  She works for a local clothing boutique and chose her wardrobe herself.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon d800 with a nikon 85mm f/1.8 lens.

What time of day were these taken?
5:30pm-6:30pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I use lightroom 4.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love the variation in her facial expressions and also the movement in her body.  I love the way she uses her hat and the flow of her dress to create movement.  Her eyes are also unbelievable and the way she “stared down” my lens in some shots.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I think this session was just incredibly fun and really reflected Kala as an individual.  The images really captured her personality, her style, and her beauty.  I directed her in a way that really showed off her gorgeous features and her sweet, playful style.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
I think it’s important to have fun with your seniors!  I’ve found that most of my senior girls really want that “photo shoot”  experience. They want those far off look images and flirty over the shoulder glances.  They want more than just look at the camera and smile shots.  They want to feel like models for the evening.
