What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
My inspiration for this shoot was Max’s love for photography. He is an award-winning photographer and I wanted to provide him with quality photos that he, as a photographer himself, could appreciate. It didn’t take me long to realize he was just as good in front of the camera as he is behind the lens!

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This photo shoot took place downtown in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
There wasn’t much preparation needed for this particular shoot. We discussed his wishes before I pulled out my camera and things just sort of fell into place after that. It was a very relaxed session.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D610
85mm 1.8g
50mm 1.8g
5-in-1 silver reflector

What time of day were these taken?
evening, 2 hours before sunset

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I always strive to get the photos as close to perfect as I can in camera. After the session, my post-processing techniques always include mild retouching and a bump in contrast (with levels adjustments) to give a more drama and complete the vibrant, polished image.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session is how incredibly easy it was. I took less than 70 photos and didn’t have to give much direction. The hardest part was choosing which ones to edit because they seriously were all amazing!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want this session to convey my ability to bring out the inner model in my seniors. Whether it’s a guy or a girl, I work to produce images my seniors are excited to share with their friends. I want to capture the best photos they’ve ever seen of themselves. This session resulted in a lot of stellar images for Max to share and treasure!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
One tip I can share regarding photographing seniors is to use a reflector! You will, with out a doubt, notice a huge improvement in your senior’s skin tones, catch lights (in the eyes), and overall lighting techniques. It will make you a better photographer when you’re able to manipulate natural light to stay consistent in your photography and editing styles. Oh, and don’t be afraid to be goofy during your session. It’ll ease the senior’s nerves….and yours too 🙂
