Conceptual shoots are so inspiring.  Whether you take inspiration from a childhood story like Reyanna Jarrel of Rey of Light Photography did here, or you use a modern movie as your concept, the result is something unique and different for the senior in the photo shoot.

Check out the Alice in Wonderland inspired shoot below and read what Reyanna had to share about this shoot.  Thanks for sharing this with Seniorologie Reyanna!!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
I offer conceptual shoots for my seniors. I have them create a Pinterest board of ideas to help me get into their heads. This senior, Daryl, had a pinned a photo of a backdrop made of tea cups. That single pin inspired this entire shoot.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
In Logandale,NV, on a private property.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes!

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
5d Mark II, mostly 85mm 1.8, a few shots were made with the 50mm 1.8. Reflectors! I’m a natural light photographer.

What time of day were these taken?
Late afternoon/early evening

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
Soft edit in LR3 and artistic details done in CS (I know, I need to upgrade…) Most of it was hand edited, I did use some black & white filters from Alien Skin Software.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
The whimsical feel and dreamy, creamy light! Plus, Daryl makes a great Alice!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I love that it shows Daryl’s girly side. She has a classic beauty that reminds me of something out of a fairytale. As far as my style goes, I just love to find dramatic light.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Get to know your seniors! The session should be all about them, when you make them feel special and comfortable, magic happens!
