What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Hailey’s eclectic style and love for all things vintage were the main inspirations for this session. I wanted Hailey to shine brighter than any star in the sky and glow more than the sun. The moment Hailey applied her deep red lipstick an emotional {sigh} came over me. She’s such a gorgeous gal and I knew that was the icing on the cake. Her eyes came alive as if to say “I am here and I am making a statement in this world”. From there Hailey was the center of the universe and rocked her session.
Where did this photo shoot take place?
Hailey’s session took place in a rural small town in northwest, Iowa on one of those fall days you just want to bottle up and keep forever.
Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Hailey’s desire for vintage contemporary flair was discussed before her session. I knew I was in for a surprise when it came session time as her style is one-of-a-kind. We teamed up to narrow down the options and piece together the perfect outfits to flatter her body and pop her personality.
What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Hailey’s session was shot using a Canon 5D with 35MM & 85MM lenses. These are my workhorse pieces that accompany every session.

What time of day were these taken?
Evening
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I post process images in ACR using customized presets to enhance the image’s color and add my personalized touch. I do all retouching in Photoshop using hand editing techniques. This is my time to add the flare and enhance the pop while keeping things natural and not overworked.
What is your favorite thing about this session?
I can’t choose just one thing about this session as a favorite as it was all around amazing. Hailey made it impossible to narrow down my favorite part of this session with her radiant beauty and seamless execution of every aspect.
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
My style of senior photography is natural with a touch of flare. I love to take new ideas and make them my own. Originality is key and travel around with each senior session. I pride myself on being one-of-a-kind and providing the highest quality prints and products to my clients. Hailey’s session conveys all of those points to a T.
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
The one tip I could share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors is to be yourself. Senior’s feel comfort in knowing they are close to adulthood and you treat them as one just as you are.
